Alas Purwo National Park is situated on Blambangan Peninsula, at the south eastern tip of East Java. The park’s name means “First Forest”, in accordance with a Javanese legend that says the earth first emerged from the ocean here. With an area of 434 km², the park is made up of mangroves, savanna, lowland monsoon forests and coral-fringed beaches. An internationally renowned surf break peels along the edge of the park at Plengkung, on the Bay of Grajagan. Mount Linggamanis (322m) is also located in this national park. Between the months of April and September, thousands of surfers from all over the world visit G-Land, which is about half a day’s travel from Bali. Plengkung, in the southern part of the Park, is almost legendary among the world’s top surfers. They call it “G-Land”. The name is derived from its location in Teluk Grajagan (Grajagan Bay), which resembles the letter “G”.Moreover, it is located a short distance from a stretch of tropical rain forest which always looks green (hence green land or “G-land”). Plengkung is one of the top four locations for surfing in the world and can be ranked alongside surf sites in Hawaii, Australia, and South Africa. Walking along the white sand beach from Trianggulasi to Plengkung, visitors will come across an area of buckshot-like sand. The grains are yellow in colour and have a diameter of around 2.5 mm. Sadengan is the feeding ground for wild animals in the area of Alas Purwo National Park. The visitors can see the wild animals such as wild bull, barking deer, wild pig, peacock, jungle fowl and many kind of birds.

It is 174 km from Surabaya to Pasir Putih Beach and takes about 4 hours by bus and about 2 hours from Ketapang, Banyuwangi. As a marine tourism resort, Situbondo Pasir Putih Beach is the ideal place to practice water sports, such as swimming, diving, and wind surfing. This beach also often becomes the water sports competition arena, either of regional, or national scale. Like wind surfing, sailing, as well as traditional fishing boat competitions, are often held here. Many attractions that you can enjoy over there, they are: Diving, Canoeing, Swimming, Sailing on traditional boat, Wonderful Sunrise, and in October you can see festval “Petik Laut”. Pasir Putih tourist resort is under Situbondo local government management and operated by a state enterprise of the local authority. It provides visitor with some necessary facilities. You can get to Pasir Putih from two directions. First, from Bungurasih (Surabaya bus station), you can take the bus going to Banyuwangi and the fare is 16.000 rupiahs by a regular bus and it takes about 4 hours, but the fare is 26.000 rupiahs if you take patas bus (an air conditioned two-two seat which round trip route in one province with fixed fares). The second direction is from Banyuwangi, you can take the bus station with the bus fare of 13.000 rupiahs and from the station you can take a public transportation (bemo) or regular bus and fare is about 2.500 rupiahs.

You also can observe hundreds species of birds such as hornbills, peacocks and bulbuls. If you like to observe the tropical forest vegetation, the park is a heaven for many species of trees, plants and flowers such as pecan nut trees, Maja, Gadung, Java tamarind trees and mount Widara. This park is so unique because 15 km from the main entrance, you can find a beautiful white beach called Bama Beach, here in the habiat of coral reef, fish and mangrove.

Mount Merapi or Gunung Merapi in Indonesian language (bahasa), is a conical volcano in Central Java, Indonesia. It is the most active volcano in Indonesia and has erupted regularly since 1548. Its name means Mountain of Fire. It is very close to the city of Yogyakarta, and thousands of people live on the flanks of the volcano, with villages as high as 1700 m above sea level. Several of its eruptions have caused fatalities. It was erupting from 1992 to 2002, and a particularly large explosion killed 43 people in 1994. It began erupting again in 2006, and scientists believe a large eruption is imminent. In light of the hazards it poses to populated areas, it has been designated a Decade Volcano. Merapi is the youngest in a group of volcanoes in southern Java. It is situated at a subduction zone, where the Indo-Australian Plate is sliding beneath the Eurasian Plate. It is one of at least 129 active volcanoes in Indonesia, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire – a section of fault lines stretching from the Western Hemisphere through Japan and South East Asia. Stratigraphic analysis reveals that eruptions in the Merapi area began about 400,000 years ago, and from then until about 10,000 years ago, eruptions were typically effusive, and the outflowing lava emitted was basaltic.

Pemimpin bukanlah penguasa yang hanya menguasai tapi lebih pada membimbing suatu komunitas/ masyarakat menuju kehidupan yang tentram dan makmur. Pemimpin yang hanya ingin memakmurkan masyarakatnya dengan segala cara hanya akan memberikan petaka seperti yang terjadi belakangan ini di Negara Amerika Serikat yang telah dipimpin oleh George.W.Bush yang sekarang sedang berjuang dari krisis. Kekerasan dalam memimpin hanya akan memberikan ketakutan dan teror pada masyarakat dan juga membuat negara menghabiskan biaya besar. Hal ini berlangsung di Amerika karena mereka mengirim pasukannya untuk memberantas teroris di negara-negara yang sebenarnya hanya ingin dikuasai minyaknya oleh Amerika Serikat. Itu merupakan sebagian dari contoh kekuasaan secara keras yang diterapkan oleh pemerintahan Amerika Serikat dalam hubungan luar negeri nya. Mempertahankan kekuasaan tidaklah harus dengan kekerasan tetapi dengan menggunakan kepemimpinan lembut tapi cerdik, dengan berwujud jalan diplomasi, dialog, dan negoisasi. Banyak yang memandang bahwa cara ini akan menunjukkan kelemahan di pihak negoisator tapi yang perlu digarisbawahi adalah sebuah win-win solution yang dapat menguntungkan kedua belah pihak dan inilah inti dari kepemimpinan secara lembut. Kepemimpinan cerdik dengan mekanisme umpan-balik yang tepat, bisa menggeser gaya kepemimpinan yang sekarang bertumpu pada kekuasaan / kepemimpinan keras kepada kepemimpinan lembut. Tidak lagi diperlukan gertakan, ancaman, atau memasang muka seram hanya untuk mempertahankan kekuasaan. Melainkan cukup menunjukkan rasa empati yang tulus, sikap simpati, dan dialog emansipatori. Dari buku yang telah saya baca ada beberapa yang masih menjadi pertanyaan menggantung karena dari sekian banyak penjelasan yang saya pikirkan adalah sistem kekuasaan ini masih belum bisa diterapkan di Indonesia, bukan dengan maksud untuk mempertahankan kekuasaan tapi lebih kepada mendidik instansi-instansi pemerintahan yang sampai saat ini masih diselimuti oleh tindakan KKN yang belum bisa dicabut akar-akarnya karena sudah mendarahdaging sampai generasi selanjutnya. Menurut pendapat saya kekerasan gaya keras perlu diterapkan di Indonesia karena sampai saat ini para Koruptor yang sudah tertangkap ataupun belum masih bisa tertawa di balik kesusahan mereka dan juga kesusahan rakyat Indonesia ini. Buku yang pantas dibaca untuk seseorang yang ingin meningkatkan skill memimpinnya karena bermanfaat untuk menambah cara berpikir untuk mengatasi anak buah yang kurang bisa dipimpin.
